 Preppy\pre-pe\ n [prep] (1976) 1: A lifestyle of country clubs and cashews, honed by generations of young in chinos. It’s wealth and thrift at the same time, the love of things both tasteful and tacky: elite bumper stickers, off – color humor, loud pants. It’s the rare style that rarely changes- if anything, it frays gently. And yet evolve it does.

Trend ini berkembang di era yang sama, kecintaan terhadap selera fashion yang penuh cita rasa elite, warna humor dan celana berbahan dasar keras. Sepertinya ini merupakan style yang jarang berubah atau memudar dengan cepat.

A true preppy is someone who:

Wears, but is not limited to  specific brands, ribbon belts, prints (ie cords with embroidered whales, palm trees, etc), sweaters tied around the neck, collar always popped, looks neat and put together. Hair ribbons or ribbon headbands, pearls, and other classic jewelry pull the looktogether. Preppies are partial to monogrammed and engraved items (ie tote bags, oxford shirts, jewelry, money clips, etc). Colors are alwaysbrite (favorites include pink and lime green). Preppies may not always match EXACTLY but they are always coordinated. Hats are worn (ie polo player, Lacoste, Brooks Brothers), but they are unique- not designs you would see in the mainstream and the “mall”.

 

Preppies don’t:
* Wear tight, skin exposing clothing
* Limit themselves to mall shopping and chain stores. They gravitate towards long-established classic stores and boutiques unique to quaint New England towns.
* Wear heavy makeup and endless hair products. The phrase “less is more” is a preppycreed.
* Glue purses to their arms, especially when going to school. Lip gloss and if need be, a wallet, are thrown into tote bags along with books.

Preppies do’s:

 

Baju:  Menggunakan ikat pinggang, pita atau baju dengan bordir bergambar ikan paus atau pohon palem. Sweaters diikat di leher, kerah selalu terlipat, dan selalu terlihat rapih.

Pita rambut atau headband menggunakan perhiasan classic  yang dikombinasikan. Preppies (sebutan untuk pecinta preppy style) identik dengan barang-barang fashion seperti tote bags, kemeja oxford, perhiasan dan penjepit uang. Warna umum yang dipakai oleh preppi biasanya warna-warna terang termasuk pink dan hijau lemon.  Mungkin tidak harus selalu match  antara satu dengan item yang lain tapi mereka selalu terorganisir.

Mereka memakai topi akan tetapi dengan desain yang unik, yang tidak biasa dan kamu sering lihat di mall.

 

 

Preppies don’t:

Memakai baju super ketat yang mengekspose kulit.

Preppies jarang berbelanja di mall, mereka lebih memilih berbelanja di butik.

Memakai make up tebal atau produk rambut berlebihan
